Hi, it’s so nice to meet you.

My name is Elske. I’m a single mum of two little people, Test Lead for a small software house and author of historical novel Left Behind set in Amsterdam during the last few months of the second world war.

Being from Amsterdam myself, the setting of my debut novel is a personal one. And so is the story, which was inspired by my grandmother who, during WW2, saved the life of a Jewish girl by hiding her in her attic.

When I’m not writing I like to run, cycle, go for walks with my kids or play my guitar (badly) while singing along (even more badly).
